Hi , i am Robert Thaxter the Ceo of Blu-Flame Music, after much thought , I've decided to keep this blog, to express the happenings on this journey , music production. The journey began when i was working in St Lucia. A VANS Engineer for digicel st lucia. Around 2003 , after moving to St Lucia, i first started playing music as a Dj, playing on a set of cd players , American Dj. A setup similar to that displayed above. The cd players i got through my good friend , Kharl Sanderson. We found and got them from Ebay. The mixer i got in St Lucia. The long and short of the story, i continued collecting music , as i always did in Jamaica, riddims and popular singles, in my mind i always had an ear for music, seeing hits from first release.
Basically, through my dj stint , and nuff respect to Dj Courtney, who i learned many things from about playing for parties , so basically , i noticed the production quality changed , compared to 90s music , that which i love dearly. Without any music background, no piano , drums or guitar skills , i thought i could do better. I began on a journey in music. First was to learn what is this art and more specifically , tonally speaking , why the sound was so different. I started using Cubase and began. Michael in st lucia , dj bblunt , who was the first person to explain the difference between a midi controller and a synthesizer. Many sleepless nights it took before i began making anything that sounds like music. So it continued until i left St Lucia. Rebuilding riddims i liked and trying to mimic a few i loved. I remember rebuilding the Silk Riddim and sharing it with a coworker Agustus Pond, he was really impressed. I conceptualized several names for my production company before finding one i liked and settled with. The original name "Blue Flame Music" was it, however when registering the company, the name was already taken, so i modified it and used "Blu-Flame Music". Had i known i would have had so much trouble with googles search etiquette i would have conceptualised another name, however so it is until this day. After returning to Jamaica, my brother in law at the time, Jaques Henry, introduced me to an artist , Style Krazy , known as Wowski at the time. We voiced our first single at Equiknoxx Studio , bigup bobby blackbird , Nick , who engineered the voicing of Bad Mind, on the first official dancehall riddim i built , the Release Riddim. Bigup Gavin same way , the super producer. I met lil joe on that journey and also mr pepper. Some real down to earth people. And story goes on.
